She's lost in the ether.

Words form themselves in pools of confused thought; streams of consciousness make their way through a mind made out of pieced-together emotions, experiences, wants and needs, numbing everything but bringing everything back to life simultaneously.

Questions, questions with no answers, regardless of the amount of searching and sifting through the mind-mess roam free:
“Why?”
“Why me?”
“Why now?”
“What for?”
“What are the reasons?”
“Is there a way out?”

* * *

I often wonder if these questions need answering, or if it’s just a comfort to have a solid answer, a confirmation, whether it be positive or negative. I don’t know what I want to hear anymore. I don’t know what I’m searching for, besides escape. But if I escape, where do I escape to and what am I escaping from? Who and what would I leave behind?
Too much. I’d leave behind too much, if I were to go. And as for where I’d go, there is no answer. It differs from person to person, belief to belief, faith to faith. I have no faith. I just have needs. My need to be free is increasing daily. These thoughts in my head are killing me.
Physically I may be fine. To others, anyway. Physically, I hate what I see with such fiery rage. It scares me, the extent of which I hate myself.
Mentally, however, I am not fine. I am nowhere near fine. If anything, my mind will be the death of me.

I still think like Anorexia. I still feel like Anorexia.
But I’m not Anorexic anymore.
That hurts me. That physically and mentally pains me. And I do know how sick that is, which hurts me even more.
My eating disorder is something else, now. I don’t know what, exactly. But it, as well as food, still rules my life. It’s with me, wherever I go.

I’m not okay.

I love my boyfriend. And he loves me.
However, I don’t feel as though I deserve that love, that adoration, that worship, that respect, that kindness. I don’t deserve his words, I don’t deserve the times he says “You are so beautiful, Eleanor”, “You are perfect, Eleanor”, “You are amazing, Eleanor”, “Your body is beautiful, perfect and amazing the way it is, Eleanor”. I don’t deserve that, or at least my eating disorder doesn’t think I deserve it.

I am scared of losing him. But I’m also scared of losing ED.
I need my boyfriend. But I also feel like I need ED.
I can’t be with them both. I can’t please them both. I can’t hold onto both.

I am lost. I’m growing up, growing beyond, attempting to find myself and ignore myself at the same time, trying to hold on, hold back and move forward all at once.
I am confused and scared and hurt and ashamed.

I just want freedom. I don’t want to be lost.

Oh girl! You've come so far...Stay strong, please, don't give up!
Those who love you deserve to be happy: boyfriend loves you, ED don't.
Make your boyfriend happy, ED deserves nothing but DEATH!

You're beautiful and life is amazing...so LIVE.

Weight gain does not = not being anorexic.
Like you said, you are not okay.
It's good for you to admit that.

Maybe I don't understand ... but I feel like "I'm not anorexic but my thoughts are" may not be what you mean?

Maybe what you are feeling is "My thoughts are still sick, though my body is not?"

You see, anorexia is not a disease of the body, but of the mind. You are still sick and there is still room for growth and improvement. Hang on and keep faith. That the thoughts will quiet down.

That's what I am trying to do.

It can be a rocky transition from being underweight and virtually self-definied as disordered, to being healthier and trying to let go. You are anything but doomed my dear... you have come SO FAR and you will continue to rise to greatness. This boy you love so much, he sees the light in you just as we all can see it to. Open up those big beautiful eyes Eleanor... you are so beautiful, and you can do this!

Eleanor, I am so sorry you are feeling so lost right now :( I know the feeling, maybe you are feeling that because you aren't at a dangerously low weight any more, you are not anorexic. But that couldn't be farther from the truth! The truth is, you have worked so hard to get to where you are right now, and ED is trying his very hardest to keep you in his grasp. But you CAN'T let him! YOu have so much more in your life, you wonderful boyfriend, future plans, everything is more important than ED. And no matter how much he tells you that you "need" him, you DON'T! You need everything but ED, and it is scary to let go because you are so used to it, but trust me you must do just that. Freedom is yours, just don't let ED hold you back <3

Stay strong love, I am praying for you and sending all my support. I would love to chat if you would like okay?

Eleanor,
I KNOW this feeling so well. The terror of thinking that the world sees you as healthy because of physical appearance while ed still terrorizes you mentally. I am right there with ya, girl! And let me tell you...you still have anorexia. Just the fact that you're terrified not to have anorexia shows that you are still sick.
I always fear that if I don't look physically emaciated than no one will know I'm hurting on the inside. I don't know if you feel this way or not, but please remember that your words are your very best outlet! All of your readers feel your pain right now because of the words you've written, you didn't have to show us any physical symptoms of despair.
Stick this out, Eleanor. It WILL pass! I have such faith in you and I am so proud of you : )

I can relate to this so much, Eleanor. But remember that Anorexia is not a label or something you want to be. What is Anorexia anyway? It is HELL. Why would you want to bring hell into your life, my love? You have so much to live for and I am not just saying that. I truly and honestly mean it.

Remember that Anorexia is a mental illness and even at a healthy weight, you are still Anorexic. Your struggles are still real... and you still need to move on. You need to continue to fight to get Anorexia out of your life and enjoy life again.

A life with Anorexia is merely existence. Do you want to exist, Eleanor? Or do you want to live? It is your choice.

I love you <3

My dear, I understand every word of what you just said. I've been there... I am still there.

I no longer qualify as anorexic, and yet part of me wishes to God that I was. What a sick thought. It's because I'm afraid of losing that part of me. Our ed's have been with us for so long, that they do feel like part of us, and it's scary to lose them.

But we must. Life is so much more than fear and guilt. Life is meant to be lived! Your boyfriend loves you and wants the best for you. He sees the best in you! You must accept that you aren't perfect, but you must always strive to be good. It's a hard balance to attain. but does that make sense?

I feel the same way about my fiance---I know I don't deserve him or how good he is to me. But he makes me want to be good and better.

Hold on dear.
