Home, sweet home.
I discharged myself from hospital a few days before Christmas. There was no way in my life or the next that I could sit and watch as my family went along with the Christmas celebrations without me. That would have been wrong, in every sense of the word. Instead, I took a stand and went against "medical advice", discharging myself. But somehow, I think it was the right choice to make. My family certainly thought so, so I wasn't alone in my decision.
After 3 months in hospital, I think I did my stint. And maybe the last stint in hospital I'll ever do.
Something's changed. I don't know if this is the anti-depressants talking, but I feel a change. A change for the better. Although I went against "medical advice", I know within me that my time had come, and that hospital was not the place for me to be.
I'm 18 years old. I shouldn't be dependant on a nasal gastric tube to give me nutrients. I should be out living, like an 18 year old in Australia lives. Meeting up with friends, going shopping, drinking a little too much at times, partying, relaxing, having fun being young. I've missed out on the better part of a year thanks to Anorexia - confined within hospital walls has both helped and hindered me. Helped in the fact that I've gotten to a place - mostly by myself - where I am able to function and think rational thoughts, but also hindered in the fact that it's stolen my freedom and will to live. But I want to live. I want to be free, I want to have fun, I want to share all of my crazy teenage stories with friends and family alike.
It's time to change.
I am in a positive headspace at the moment, and goodness knows it's not always going to be that way. But I'm ready to live, now. Within certain barriers, yes, like the fact that I don't want to gain any more weight. But I am at a place where I'm able to live. And so, with that, I will. I will live. And learn. And cry and scream and have horrible moments, of course. But I will live.

hi precious
it is so good to hear you in a better frame of mind. you have got this, and i hope, very much so that you do never have to go back in.
you are such a strong & inspiring young girl, and you are so right, we are young and should be living it up!

Hi Eleanor!
I am so happy you are home and are beating anorexia. I believe in you. You've got a whole life ahead of you, and you damn well deserve it.
I hope you received my letter, I'm not sure if it made it to your ward. All the best, and remember anorexia is evil.
I can relate to the certain limitations that anorexia sets on you to let you 'live'. I want to beat it, and I feel happy, yet there are a few things I have to do for it to be okay. I know we'll both get through it. :)
I am so, so happy to hear that! :) I have recently come to the same place, it's wonderful, isn't it? I wish you the best of luck and happy holidays! :)
This is heart warming. Your attitude and spirit are back and you seem to be prepared for the road ahead...warts and all.
I am THRILLED for you huni. you deserve to be free from anorexia. its time to live. make this christmas your best EVER. and make this new new the start of your new life without the torment of anorexia dragging you down. I am sure your decision to recover is the best christmas present all of your family and friends could ever wish for. I wish you the very happiest christmas and i will be praying and thinking of you over the holidays. stay strong and remember the choice you have just made. make it your new years resolution to value life more than you have ever before and to live life to the fullest. dont let anorexia wasyte any more years, you are free now, so spread your wings and soar- the sky is your limit.
congratulations and big hugs, sarah
Glad your in a good place mentally! I hope you can keep positive and stay on the right path girly!
this is amazing to read! sometimes you just know that it's something you need to do alone, even if it goes against medical advice.
i wish you so so much luck, i know you can do this - the good days will make up for the bad days, i promise and eventually the bad days will get fewer and further between.
if you feel yourself slipping, catch yourself - remember that one bad day doesn't need to turn into a bad week, or a bad month. if you didn't have bad days then how would you be able to enjoy the great ones?
take care of yourself, and keep that beautiful head of yours held high. take your life back because you deserve to be happy <3
