Tough Love Pt. 2.

Eleanor woke with only one thought in mind: yoga. She had to do it. She couldn't not do it. The previous day's-and-night's troubles hadn't disappeared with sleep, and there was no other way for her to find some peace than from those troubles than in her deep breaths and lengthening stretches.
Midway through her morning routine, she heard the noise she always dreaded to hear: a door shutting. That could only mean one thing: her mother was awake. Instantly, her once-relaxed mind was buzzing, but not buzzing in a positive, happy and productive way. Buzzing in a way that made her want to cover her ears, or worse still, rip out her eardrums.
One would think Eleanor would be used to this disruption by now, after having had it happen for almost two weeks, now. Alas, that was not the case. Eleanor is starting to feel as though her world is shrinking in on her; the walls of her personal space box closing in around her, replacing that feeling of freedom with a feeling of imposing claustrophobia.

Nothing, not one thing, makes sense to Eleanor. Her life doesn't make sense to her. Her life is not a life, but a structure. A ritual. A rigid and never-changing series of events. Her life is not a life. It's a shadow of what it could be, what it should be. Her life is void of independence, choice&decisions, variety. Her life is void of happiness, love, relationships. Her life is not being lived.
Eleanor is not living. Eleanor is merely existing.

I am sick of just existing.
I am sick of not having choice.
I am sick of being told what I can and can't do, what to eat, how much to eat.
I am sick of my life being taken away from me,
from a voice in my head.I am sick of fighting with my parents.I am sick of hurting my parents.
I am sick of being SICK.

So, some things have changed in my day-to-day life.
I've been upped in food.
I can't walk to or from school anymore, because I'm "burning too much energy".
I cried myself to sleep last night, faught with my parents, and ever since there has been a hostility between me and them. Especially, (what a surprise) with my Mother.

Last night, Mum threatened me with hospitalisation.
"If you haven't put on weight in two weeks, you're going back to hospital".
That hit me like a ton of bricks.

Last night, Dad said something that hurt.
"It should have occured to you by now that your Mother and I are trying to save your life and it would be nice if you could appreciate what we're doing for you because it's taxing on us, it's exhausting, and we're sick of it." or something to that degree.
I feel like I am destroying my family. I am killing my relationship with my parents. I'm overwhelmed with feelings of guilt, regret, shame. I'm angry, at them and at myself.

I have so many mixed feelings right now and I don't know what to do with them all. I want to want to recover, but I'm still not there yet. What's wrong with me?
Why don't I want to get through this?
Why don't I want to give ED up?

I wish I could make sense of what's going on in my head. I'm more or less sitting on the fence, or rather, impaled on it. Not a nice visual image, I apologise, but if I'm to be honest, that's how I would describe my situation.
I'm in a place I don't want to be but can't quite convince myself I should get out of.

I also wish I could bring some positivity to this post. I feel like such a downer, and I hate to bring this on all of you beautiful girls.
You all have so much faith and belief in me, and that does encourage me, motivate me and inspire me to move forward. Every time I read your words, I'm filled with a little ray of hope,
and that little ray of hope gets me through.

"Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine."
I must stop standing in my own sunshine, instead I need to be that sunshine.

"Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Willing is not enough; we must do."
Enough talk. Enough "thinking". Enough "knowing".
I have to do.

love, love, love.

Your parents obviously care alot about you, and, like many parents, find it difficult to distinguish between you and the ED. They want to blame the ED, but end up seeming to blame you instead. Trust me, they are not, they are just as angry at the ED as you are, but don't necessarily understand the illness enough to make the separation.

I remember feeling like this, as if everyone was trying to invade my personal space, my way of doing things. And I hated them for it. At the time my ED twisted their reactions into hatred against me, when in fact, they cared so much about me.

You absolutely do not want to go into hospital, because much more of your freedom will be taken away here. Nothing in this world would make me want to go back to that, to the endless observation, bedrest and feeling of being so trapped and unable to do things.

The thing that holds most of us back from recovery is fear. Fear that we can't do it, that life won't be better on the other side. But let me assure you, you CAN do it, and life IS better, but you need to take a leap of faith and give it a chance.

You will earn your freedom again, just as I have...and I can't tell you how great it is to exist by my rules, to no longer be told when I can go to the toilet, or how long I can walk/stand for. These privileges come with a healthy weight, and they are definitely worth striving for.

Sorry sorry epic comment again :-)

I understand exactly how you are feeling, my dear.

But your life is not void of love, because I love you, and I'm sure many others do too :)

Keep positive, and email me if you need me.

stay strong baby! you have the power to live, not jut exist. i'm so sorry for you parents comments; i know exactly how that feels. the guilt hurts, but its not enough to budge ED. but we CAN budge him. We can break free. It just takes a tinyyyy ounce of hope and motivation to start moving in the right direction and i know you have way more than that. We can do this together, okay??
love you to the moon and back,

Eleanor,

I love you so much, and it pains me to hear that you are feeling stuck right now.
I know you read my last post, and I really think it can be applied here...
The fact that you feel uncontrollable anxiety every morning when you hear your mom waking up is ED's way of trying to make you feel out of control - but you ARE in control, Eleanor! You are in complete control of using these feelings to help you - the hosility you feel towards yourself and your parents is meant to be felt. It is meant to make you want to get better. You can use these feelings as a daily reminder of what you are striving for: life.
Think about it.. if you didn't have these feelings, there would be nothing pushing you to do better, or to be better.

I had a similar experience when I was at my lowest weight.. my mom screamed and yelled and threatened me with hospitalization, and I just couldn't understand why she was being so mean and hurtful. Looking back, I know she was just so worried about me, and didn't have any other way to express herself.

You have so much love in your life Eleanor, even if the form it comes in is less than desirable. Stay strong sweetie because it will get better.
*hugs*

I know exactly how you feel about your parents. My mom still doesn't really get ED and we still struggle with each other about it so much. You are not a bad person and you are not destroying your family.

And giving up ED is hard. It's not something that happens all at once. At least it wasn't for me. It takes time and it goes away little by little. And often I just have to go on, through the the motions of recovery, even when I don't feel them. I have to keep believing that there is something better waiting for me and that even though I don't know what it is now or how I'll get there, someday I will. And you will too.

Your parents care about you. I know they have a funny way of showing it sometimes, but it's true. They're watching their baby girl destroy herself and that would bring frustration to anyone. You will get through this, Eleanor. Everything may seem like the walls are closing in right now, but it's worth the fight, I promise. I love you beautiful! -Kylee

Please dont worry about posting your thoughts even if they arent happy or positive, if this is how you feel then go ahead and share it. I just hope that our words of support help you through these tought times because I know how lonely and isolating it can feel.
Your parents love you, this illness isnt just hard on you its hard on them. Imagine if you were them having to watch your little girl battle this, it would be heart breaking. Unfortunately all their frustrations at the ILLNESS sometimes are being directed at you, but when they say things in the heat of an argument just remember they arent cross with you they are cross with the ed for what it is doing to you.

I know you feel like your stuck and that you can move on, you want to let go but you just cant. I have been this position many times and still am really but in a way its progress. You arent wanting to fall back and live forever in this illness, you have that desire to get better and to have a proper life and that is something that can be worked on.
Although its tough dealing with the food intake being upped etc but remember the ultimate goal here is to get your health and your life back. You have the strength in you do this, keep telling yourself that.

stay positive and keep fighting. because I don't think your parents realize the inner battle you are facing. it's a slippery slope, but I believe you are capable.

hang in there, love.

hey girl,

maybe you should start making a list of things you love about yourself...it puts things into perspective :) i couldn't stop comparing myself to others, so i started thinking about the positive things about myself that may be unique to me! it sounds corny, but it helps haha.

and i'm sorry about your parents, it's hard for people to understand what you are truly going through...i know i wouldn't if i hadn't been there, too. just know that they love you and care about you!

Eleanor, I'm so sorry you are having such a horrible time at the moment. I'm having a full on battle with ED myself, though luckily without parents involved. Everyone has already said everything I could possibly think to say to you but I did want you to know I'm thinking of you. Please keep fighting! I know it's so so hard, trust me I know.
