Firstly, I want to send a huge virtual hug to all of you wonderful, beautiful, supportive girls for the kind words from yesterday's post. I can not tell you how much those words cheered me up and warmed my heart.
Sometimes it takes a while for things to really sink in and register. I was in such a frenzy yesterday that no common sense was getting through - your support pulled me out of that frenzy and made me see the reality. So thank you, from the bottom of my overwhelmed heart.

Last night was a horrible night. ED took over my mind. I looked in the mirror: all I saw was fat. I tore at my skin, trying to force it down and away, as if pushing it back it would make it disappear. It didn't. ED wasn't happy. ED really wasn't happy. I walked out of the bathroom and broke down into tears. Mum was there, and she caught me up in her arms. We had a long talk, with me curled up next to her on the couch. Her words were full of love, and they made EDs words fade away, until I was Eleanor again. She brought me back. She's not letting me go, and she said so. I said something, that amazed me. "ED has been here for me. But not always. You've always been here for me; you were here before ED, and you'll be here after ED." At first I couldn't believe I'd actually said that. ED roared, I'll tell you that much. But Mum wouldn't let him take over me, not then.
However bad last night was, I am glad it happened. I have learned to appreciate the help I'm getting, instead of fighting it. Although the battle is nowhere near won, I am eventually going to come out on top. I am a person. I was a person before ED and I'll be a person after ED. I was loved before ED, and I'll be loved after ED.

That was an extremely significant realisation. We shouldn't identify ourselves with ED, because we were without them, once. We just become so swamped under by the thoughts and taunts and persuasions and provokings that we lose sight of who we are, and focus entirely on what ED is and what it wants. It's never about our needs, only EDs. And that has to change.
We all deserve love, we all deserve a life, we all deserve our own headspace, and not have it invaded by this evil. Mum said something else that stuck with me.
ED is a big black stain on your shoulder, taking over your heart and your soul and engulfing it in darkness.
Now, unless someone can find a really darn big bottle of stain remover, we're going to have to use our own elbow grease to get this stain off. We have the love, help and support needed to remove it, we just have to take it.

I'm sorry for my rambling and being all over the place with this post. I don't know exactly what I want to say. But I just want you all to know that you are all strong enough to overcome all hardships put in front of you. Every day is a challenge, and every day you make it through, waking up in the morning even stronger than the day before. We can all shine, if we give ourselves the chance.

I'm sending you a hug right back beautiful. I've had many moment's like that. I'm in front of the mirror just grabbing at fat...
I love that quote. I've saved it and printed it out, because it is so true. Elbow Greece and everything

That is so true ed made me believe that i did not deserve to be happy before he came along and may me think that i was truly not happy for all those year. But you know what ed i was happy and so were you eleaner you were happy before ed came along and you were loved, don't let ed convince you that you were not happy without him when its quite the opposite, the more health you gain back the more happiness as well.
Ed made me think he was the only thing in my life, when people asked me what i liked the first thing that came to mind was starving myself,
Eleanor=beautiful, strong and powerfull
Ed=Bully, mean and a total and complete liar
I think we all should indulge in one giant virtual hug =)
Eleanor, you amaze me with your progress. I have followed your words from the very first post and it is apparent how far you have come. You possess true beauty deep within your heart, and you never fail to make me smile or see a brighter future.
This post is just what I needed to pick me up and stear me straight.

"I am a person. I was a person before ED and I'll be a person after ED. I was loved before ED, and I'll be loved after ED."
this is so beautiful and true - i've written it down in my diary. you're right my love, we mustn't let ourselves be defined by our disorder. they are not what makes us special... being true to the person we are, away from ED, is what makes us special.
you are so lucky to have such a wonderful mum. arent mothers just perfect for reassuring us and making us feel loved? listen to her wise words and keep them in mind when ED is next shouting in your ear - who are you going to believe? your kind, loving mother or some bastard that has makes your life a misery?
keep going sweet girl, you have the strength to do this!
wishing you a better day today.
lots of love <3

You are so right that we shouldn't identify ourselves with ED...It's so easy to let ED take over and lose our own identity in the process. But having gone through this will make you an even better, stronger person in the end.
Take care and hang in there!

This post is lovely. And it's really struck a chord with regards to my ED. At the moment it seems like I can't separate ED from the rest of me. But what you said about being a person before and after this really made sense. And it's made me more determined to fight.
Aww this really touches my heart. you have to see past ed's lies and hear eleanor[: you are beautiful, you are a fighter, and you will beat this!
xoxxx,

This post reminded me of the breakdown I had in front of my mom before I began my recovery... but after shedding those tears, I began to finally gather the strength I needed to recover.
I love the metaphors you use associating ED with our lives... it really makes you think. Have a good day, Eleanor. Keep on fighting off ED! <3
1. Thank you for that comment, lovely lady! It made me smile ear to ear
2. Wow. I can't tell you how many times I've found myself in your shoes. But you're right, the people you're blessed to have love YOU, not your ED.
You're a rockstar. Don't forget it.

love this post!!
there ARE so many things besides ED...before, during, and after it makes appearances in lives. We must choose to set it aside and LIVE or else we just might miss out.
it's so great that your mom is there for you, as is mine. There are many hard times that I've gotten through, thanks to my mom.
Keep fighting girl :) I believe in you.
